We invite you to come to ISEG, the oldest Economics school in Portugal, and join your colleagues from around the world, in the discussion of new ideas in one more realization of this important event, the Congress on Insurance: Mathematics and Economics.

 Topics and Call for Papers

The Congress provides researchers (actuaries and non-actuaries) with the opportunity to present their latest works in the general area of Actuarial Science. It also allows practicing actuaries, who are interested in the implementation of results, to make direct contact with recent developments.

Papers for presentation should be concerned with a subject relevant to the aims and scope of the international journal Insurance: Mathematics and Economics. All the papers on the theory of insurance mathematics or the inventive application of it, including empirical or experimental results, are welcome. This includes papers on the theory, models and computational methods of life insurance (including pension systems, social insurance and health insurance), of non-life insurance and of reinsurance and other risk sharing arrangements. It also includes, under the heading of insurance economics, innovative insurance applications of results from other fields, such as probability and statistics, computer science and numerical analysis, economics, operations research and management science and risk management.

Topics of special interest include modelling of portfolios, risk measures, premium calculation principles, experience rating (including credibility theory and bonus-malus), claim reserving and stochastic finance.

The papers presented will have the opportunity to be considered for publication in a special issue of Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, dedicated to the Congress.

Abstracts should be submitted by March 31, 2002 and the papers should be sent by June 15, 2002, both by email to
