2nd CIEF Workshop European Integration and Banking Efficiency

Lisbon, October 30-31, 2003 Announcement and Call for Papers

The Research Centre on Financial Economics (CIEF) of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal (ISEG-UTL) is organising the 2^nd CIEF Workshop  "European Integration and Banking Efficiency"  to be held on the October 30-31, 2003.
This workshop aims to offer a forum for researchers (Ph.D. students, Post docs and others) to present and discuss with a competent audience their theoretical or empirical papers. Fields of interest are particularly:

1. European integration and monetary policy
   
2. Monetary transmission mechanisms
   
3. The role of institutions and banking efficiency
   
4. Design and functioning of financial sector

The papers should be around 25 pages and their presentation about 20 minutes. Following the presentation we will try to assure a competent discussant to comment the paper (participants are also invited to candidate for discussants of the papers).
Please submit your complete paper, including the name(s) profession, institution and address of the author(s), as well as the e-mail address of the corresponding author to the Conference Coordinator.

The programme of the Workshop should be ready by the end of September 2003 and all the participants should have access to the papers that will be presented at the workshop.

The accepted papers may be published in a special issue of the European Review of Economics and Finance (CIEF-ISEG). Selection will be made by a scientific comittee coordinated by Prof. Molyneux from the University of Bath, U.K..
