Registration fees (50 Euros) include Conference papers and Conference support facilities, coffee-breaks, welcome dinner and Lisbon surroundings tour. Additional arrangements may be foreseen.

Payment of the registration fees will be done in the first Conference day.

During the Conference the service for emails, faxes and photocopies will be provided by the Conference Staff.

Some (few) computers and a printer will be reserved at the ISEG for the use of Conference participants.

English is the Conference official language.  No translation services will be supplied.

All the Conference rooms are equipped with computer, data projector and overhead projector for transparencies  

Location: ISEG is composed by different buildings in a large area very near the Parliament (the Name in Portuguese is Parlamento - Palacio de São Bento). There are 3  doors to ISEG, in different streets. Rua do Quelhas (black on map), Rua Miguel Lupi (green on map) and Rua das Francesinhas (red on map).

Transports:

Lisbon / Portela Airport - Hotels

Portela airport is not far from Lisbon centre.

Bus from the Airport to the Hotels in Marques de Pombal area / Restauradores area:

-    Aero-Bus, hotel shuttle:

Cost – for free, when holding a boarding card of TAP – Air Portugal;

2.30 Euros, in any other cases (this is equivalent to a 1 day ticket, being valid for the rest of the day, in any buses or trams)

Timetable/frequency – from 7.00 am until 9.00 pm; departs every 20 minutes.

 

-    Taxi from Airport to Hotels in Marques de Pombal area/Restauradores area: usual fair: € 10/15 usual travel duration: 20 min.

   

Banking   

Currency
€ (Euro) is the Portuguese currency. €1=USD 0,8786 (05-04-02)

Bank Services
Many  ATMs all over the city ; There is a Bank (Caixa Geral de Depósitos) and an ATMs in the Conference place (ISEG) with a special timetable:10 -16.30 with no lunchtime closing.

The general time table of Banks is: 08.30 - 15.00 with no lunchtime closing.

Banks are closed at Saturday and Sunday.

 

Credit cards


Hotels, restaurants, shops, car rental agencies, ATMs, usually accept  credit cards (VISA, Euro card, MasterCard, American Express).

Personal Documentation  


Nationals of the EU: identity card is required.

Most countries outside the EU: passport is required.

 

Post office and Phone


Timetable of Post Offices: 09.00 - 18.00. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

Special post offices: At airport (24hours/everyday); At Restauradores weekdays:09.00-20.00;Saturday:09.00-18.00

There are many Public Phones in Lisbon (working with coins and phone cards). Phone cards are available at post offices and also at several shops (namely tobacco kiosks and newspapers kiosks).

 

Weather


Lisbon has a moderate climate, with  no great variations in temperature. The weather in October is usually pleasant. The average air temperature in October 2001 was 19ºC;67ºF (min. 14,6ºC – max. 22,4ºC). The sea temperature during July/August/September is (19,5ºC; 67,1ºF) and during October/November/December (16,1ºC;60,0ºF)

Cultural Events and Places

A list of the principal Lisbon Cultural events during the period 10-20 October will be provided as soon as possible (probably at end of September / Beginning of October).

October: XXII Ancient Music Festival – Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation

23 – 30 October: Seixal Jazz 2002 – Cultural Forum of Seixal.

 

Sport Events and Places

A list of the principal Lisbon Sport ( namely foot ball) events during the period 10-20 October will be provided as soon as possible (probably at end of September / Beginning of October).

October: Golf – Estoril Open – International golf tournament

 

Restaurants Bars and Fado and Folklore


There is a large variation of restaurant prices: from €5 until €15

There are also Fado Song Live Music and Folklore Restaurants.

There are some areas in Lisbon were several bars and discos can be found: the Docas, 24 de Julho and  Bairro Alto.( usually until 3 a.m.(bars) and 6 a.m. (discos))

 
Shopping  

Shops Usual timetable: 09.00 to 19.00 (weekdays) 09.00-12.00(Saturday)

Shopping Centres usual timetable: 10.00-23.00 (weekdays and weekend).
