PresentationSOCIUS – Research Centre in Economic and Organizational Sociology - – is a research unit belonging to the School of Economics and Management (ISEG), within the Technical University of Lisbon. It was set up in May 1991 by ISEG teachers and researchers and various other external researchers. As a research unit, it is accredited by the Foundation for Science and Technology, and, since 1999, has been classified as “Excellent” under the Foundation’s Pluri-annual Programme for the Funding of Research and Development Units. In the last Evaluation of I&D Units 2007, in 23th October, was attributed to SOCIUS the classification of "Excellent". Its principal area of scientific activity, Economic and Organizational Sociology, is considered in its broadest sense, and favours the numerous points of contact between contemporary Sociology and Economics, besides other Social Sciences involved in the study of economic and organizational reality.
